Mail Call

This Halloween weekend we are getting buckets and buckets of rain.  It's supposed to get about 2 inches of rain over the next couple of days.  Of course, this is not great adventuring weather, as you can see Sequoia and I are hoping the weather clears up.

The weather hasn't cleared up outside so  I decided to look at my mail and I  got this package from two little bears.  Do you recognize their signature stamp?
Let's see what's inside.  Candy, mints, pencils, stickers, and a great certificate.  I wonder if I should frame this?
Next up is a post card from my friend Ajdin. He went to Elvis' house, got a first class tour, and sent this post card my way.  It almost looks as if I am taller than Elvis.
Hammy sent a post card from a recent trip.
Droopy sent a card from San Antonio.  The post card mentions a folk hero named Doggy Crockett.  I will have to do some more research to learn more about this Doggy Crockett.

Finally, Sandy sent me a card from Berendon Glacier in Canada.  He mentions that he didn't travel there recently but from looking at the card it looks like an amazing place to visit.

Thanks everyone for the mail.  Not only has it entertained me on a beary rainy day but it's given me some ideas of places to visit.

On an unrelated note, Happy Halloween everyone!

Little Fox's Canine Kitchen

Welcome to the first (and probably only) episode of Little Fox's Canine Kitchen.  As my regular readers know Sequoia's anniversary is coming up  soon and I have decided to make a special treat for him.  As you can see I have all of the ingredients laid out.
Once any movement in the kitchen is suspected Sequoia comes out of hiding.  Today, he has told me that he must supervise the dog treat creation.  Seems like someone is trying to get in on my supervision business.
After mixing the dough I got to express my creativity with cookie cutters to make bone shape cookies.  I think I have a future in baking.  Now I just need to place them in the oven for about 20 minutes.
Epilogue: Sequoia did enjoy the cookies, does he love them and would he rate them 5 stars, well that is to be determined.  Happy Anniversary Sequoia!

A beach Adventure

So rarely does one get to enjoy a nice sunny Fall day in the Northwest.   Luckily for me this was one of those days and the gang (roommates, Sequoia, and I) headed out to the beach.

Before any good beach hike begins it's important to get some grub.  I think this place looks great, how can you go wrong with a place that has a big sign sayings "fox".  We went for the clam chowder in a bread bowl.  I give it two paws up.
After lunch it was off to explore.   The beach was pretty windy so it was difficult for me to find places to pose but there were a few trees that cooperated with me.
After a windy hike along the coast I ended up at the "D River".  According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the "D River" is the shortest river in the world going only 430 feet from Devils' Lake to the Pacific Ocean (pre 1989).  Wikipedia says the Roe River in Montana was listed as the shortest river in the world and took the title away from the "D River" in 1989 but the people of this coastal town are persistent and measured the river from the lake at an extreme high tide which made the river only 120 feet and the people at Guinness said that the "D River" was truly the shortest river in the world.  On a side note Guinness stopped reporting on that subject in 2006 (probably a good idea in the long run).
This is a big river for a little fox.

I have to support myself on this sand so I don't get blown away by the wind.

Sequoia loves the wind in his face.

It's a long walk back to the car.
As we headed back to the car I noticed a casino in the distance.
With the flag flying and the sun out I feel it's my patriotic duty to go inside the casino and try my luck on the slot machines.  My roommates nixed that idea saying we could not go in because of Sequoia.  I am not sure I believe that but hopefully we can stop for ice cream or salt water taffy on the way home.

Happy Anniversary Sequoia!

It's been a while for me to post.  You are probably thinking I have been adventuring, hiking, traveling, or exploring but the truth is I have been nurturing my inner "couch potato."   Anyway, that doesn't' have much to do with Sequoia's anniversary which is coming up soon and frequent readers you know that I am always up for a good party.

Sequoia's birthday is in June but we celebrate his anniversary which is October 31.  Let's see, what should I do to celebrate?  I know I will make something in the kitchen for him and I can probably use my dog bone cookie cutter I got in Colorado to stamp out fun shapes for Sequoia.

After a quick google search I found numerous recipes for dog treats.  I find it interesting that they are also rated with stars.  Do you think the dog is communicating with their humans telling them what to put in the reviews?

Who knew?

I see a lot of recipes use beef bouillon to flavor the treats but my roommates tell me there might be some garlic or onion in the bouillon which are not good for dogs so those are out.

These seem interesting.

I think I found one that might work.  It has whole wheat flour, peanut butter (unsalted), baking powder and one cup skim milk.   This is the picture from the internet, we'll see if my biscuits look as nice as these.

Now that I have my recipe it's time to go to the store to get the supplies.

New Friends, names wanted.

Hello Blog Pals,
Due to some unforeseen circumstances we have two new stuffy pals that have moved in with us.  Blog pals meet Rabbit and Bear.
Rabbit seems to be waving hello.

Do they have proper names?  No, but they both expressed an interest in having real names.  More on that later, let's have a party to welcome our new friends.

Every good party needs some drinks.  I will have to find something that is non-alcoholic for Drunk Fox.
Definitely need some beverages.  Not a lot of non-alcoholic options for Drunk Fox.

Once the alcohol came out looks like Little Bear decided to get in on the action.

Hmm, perhaps some food is needed for our welcome party as well.
Since Rabbit is a vegetarian I figure it's best to find something that he can eat
Something for dessert?  Hmm, we don't have much dessert around the house.  Aha, this will do.

The party went beary well. Little Bear is an excellent bartender. I am surprised he didn't have any coffee liquor available.

Everyone was beary tired after the party.
Now it's time to get down to business.  It has come to my attention that Rabbit and Bear need proper names.  This might be difficult for my roommates since theirnaming ability is weak at-best.
For example: this guy is named Reindeer.

Over here we have Big Bear.
Of course this group is Little Bear, Drunk Fox, and Little Fox.

Bear and Rabbit asked me to ask my stuffy friends to help choose there names.  Blog pals can you send some names my way to help out my new friends?  Bear and Rabbit are waiting patiently.

Waterfall hike

I had a couple of hours before a nice meal at my friend Monkey's house and I convinced my roommates to take me on a hike before dinner.

We headed out to Latourell Falls in the waterfall region of our state.  Before the hike began I thought I would pose at the bottom of the waterfall before we started our hike upward.
At the top of the waterfalls you come across upper Latourell falls (creative naming eh?).
This waterfall is kind of cool because there are fewer tourists and you can get the most of the waterfall in your camera.

Along the trail we met up with lots of dogs and there were also a few good viewpoints as well.

As you can see the weather is perfect.  My roommates are really putting out all the stops for their mid-year review.  Maybe I am getting soft in my old age but between this and the airshow I might almost give them a passing score.

Mid year review coming soon

Another beautiful weekend day.  Autumn is beary pleasant right now and my roommates are trying to take credit for that as their mid-year review is coming up.

I overheard them saying they were taking me somewhere to buy me something.  I wasn't too interested until  we pulled into pull airport.

This is a good looking plane.  The red looks like Hammy Red.

A couple of other planes in the background.  Everyone parked nicely and neatly today. Hmm, maybe they are going to get me flying lessons.  That would be fun.

This plane is in good shape.  Looks sturdy, maybe this is the one the instructors use to teach stuffies how to fly.
Oh my, do you believe it?  This plane is for sale!!!

Maybe this is what my roommates were talking about buying me today.  Wow, I can't wait to get into the cockpit and learn all the rules and I already have the fetching scarf from last year.  This is great!

After a moment or two of gratitude toward my roommates they broke the news to me. Apparently, the airport hosts a fly in breakfast the first Saturday of each month.  That's right, what they bought me wasn't a new airplane or flying lessons but a breakfast.  Even though I was a little disappointed I must say the breakfast was good.  Bluebeary pancakes, grits, eggs, sausage and bacon.  I had two slices of bacon and thought about Droopy the whole time.
